It's free to sign up. The only cost to you is shipping books you have available to people who request them. After listing books (a minimum of ten to get two free credits), you receive requests. You send your book to the requestor and get a credit in your account. A credit means you can request a book from someone else. You don't have to pay anything for the books you request, but you do pay shipping for books you send off. (It's no more than $2.23 for one pound or lighter books. My heaviest paperback was 13 oz.)
The site also swaps hardbacks, cookbooks, textbooks, and audiobooks.
