Shopping with Joe

Joe is very appreciative of my couponing ways. It means he always has lots to eat and he's saving money, two of his favorite things.

Before the grocery game, our fridge was bare 75% of the time because I had a very turbulent relationship with shopping and cooking. It was practically bipolar. We'd go for weeks on end with hardly anything in the fridge, and he learned to make do with a couple of slices of slightly stale bread and a can of tuna or a slice of leftover pizza. Then I'd get on a wild tear when faced with a major sale on chicken and make 20 pounds of various chicken dishes to be frozen and eaten later. I once made 45 rice and bean burritos because beans were on sale.

So he is very happy when I can get a variety of his favorite yummy foods for pennies on the dollar.

Today I bugged him several times to go shopping with me, and after finishing a bunch of tasks, he finally agreed. So off we went to Ralph's, coupons in hand.

It wasn't until I said, "Here, hold these coupons and as we pick up items, we can separate them into my transaction and your transaction," that he realized I didn't drag him along for his company but for his club card.

Totals
2 Olay ribbons body wash $2
1 handsoap .30
4 toothbrushes $1
2 Juicy Juice $2
1 Oscar Mayer Deli creations $1
5 12-packs Pepsi $10
1 box bandaids free
2 sliced lunch meat free
8 ziploc containers $2.50
2 chocolate milks free

I realize that doesn't show a lot of food, but we were already pretty well-stocked on veggies and meat before I started my grocery game tracking posts.
